Flock Free Mosquito Spray Safety Guide
Choosing a mosquito control product isn’t just about effectiveness. It’s also about knowing exactly what you are spraying around your home, your family, your pets, and your yard.
At Flock Free, we believe customers deserve complete transparency. That’s why we openly list every ingredient used in our mosquito control products and explain how to use our products safely.
Flock Free Mosquito Spray is formulated with plant-based ingredients that qualify for the EPA’s 25(b) exemption for minimal-risk pesticide products. It contains no conventional synthetic insecticides commonly found in many traditional mosquito sprays.
Like any product designed for outdoor use, it should always be used according to the directions.
What’s Inside Flock Free Mosquito Spray?
We believe you should know exactly what you're bringing onto your property.
Active Ingredients:
Thyme oil, garlic oil, corn oil, geraniol, clove oil, citric acid, peppermint oil, rosemary oil, sodium chloride (salt).
Inert Ingredients
Water, vinegar, saponified coconut/palm oil, isopropanol, potassium sulfate
Every ingredient in the formulation complies with the EPA’s 25(b) exemption for minimal-risk pesticide products. General Safety Guidelines
Although Flock Free Mosquito Spray is made with plant based ingredients, you should follow a few simple precautions to ensure the best treatment results.
Always Use the Product as Directed
Proper mixing, application rates, and treatment intervals are important for both effectiveness and safety.
For detailed application instructions, please refer to the label and instruction articles on our website.
Wear Eye Protection
Whenever mixing concentrate or spraying the product, wear safety glasses or other suitable eye protection.
If the product accidentally gets into your eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water for several minutes. If irritation persists, seek medical advice.
Avoid Prolonged Skin Contact with the Concentrate
The concentrate contains highly concentrated plant oils that may cause skin irritation in sensitive individuals.
The ready-to-use diluted spray is generally well tolerated during normal outdoor use. However, individual sensitivity or allergic reactions are always possible.
If the concentrate comes int contact with your skin, wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water.
Inhalation
Under normal outdoor application, inhaling small amounts of spray mist or vapor is generally not expected to present a health concern. As with any spray product, avoid intentionally breathing concentrated mist and use the product in well-ventilated outdoor areas.
Do Not Ingest
Flock Free Mosquito Spray is intended only for outdoor mosquito control.
Accidental ingestion may cause stomach discomfort or irritation. If swallowed, follow the product label instructions and seek medical advice if needed.
Allergies and Individual Sensitivity
Our formula contains several plant oils.
If you know you have allergies or sensitivities to any of the listed ingredients, avoid using the product or take appropriate precautions.
Storage
Store the product in its original container with the cap tightly closed.
Keep out of reach of children and store away from food.
Designed for use around yards, patios, and outdoor spaces
When used as directed, the product may be applied to outdoor areas such as:
- Backyards
- Patios
- Decks
- Play areas
- Lawns
- Outdoor seating areas
- Around swing sets and playground equipment
Pets and Wildlife
Many customers choose Flock Free Mosquito Spray because they want to reduce mosquitoes without introducing conventional synthetic insecticides into areas where animals live and play.
Dogs
When used as directed, the product may be applied in areas where dogs spend time outdoors.
As a sensible precaution, avoid spraying directly onto your dog or onto food and water bowls. Allow treated surfaces to dry before allowing pets unrestricted access to the area.
Cats
Cats are uniquely sensitive to certain essential oils.
Although the diluted spray used according to directions is unlikely to present significant risk after treated surfaces have completely dried, we recommend extra caution around cats.
Avoid:
- spraying directly on cats,
- spraying food or water bowls,
- allowing cats to contact wet treated surfaces,
- treating areas where cats are likely to lick fresh residue before it has dried.
If your cat spends significant time in a particular area, consider allowing the treatment to dry completely before permitting access.
Wildlife and Farm Animals
When used according to the directions, treated outdoor areas are generally compatible with normal activity by wildlife and farm animals such as deer, rabbits, raccoons, squirrels, songbirds, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, horses, and other animals.
Avoid direct application onto animals.
Birds and Bird Baths
Bird baths can become attractive mosquito breeding sites, making them an important part of an overall mosquito control program.
When used according to the directions, diluted Flock Free Mosquito Spray may be used as part of mosquito management around bird baths. Avoid excessive application, follow the recommended dilution and application instructions, and never use more product than directed.
As with any treatment around wildlife, proper application is essential.
Plants and Gardens
Flock Free Mosquito Spray is intended for outdoor use around residential landscapes.
When used as directed, it may be applied around lawns, shrubs, trees, ornamental flowers, landscape plants, water plants, vegetable gardens, and fruit trees.
Many mosquitoes spend the day resting beneath leaves or inside dense vegetation, making these locations important treatment areas.
If applying around edible crops, always wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consumption, just as you normally would with any produce grown outdoors.
Bees, Butterflies, Fireflies, and Other Beneficial Creatures
Many homeowners want effective mosquito control while protecting beneficial insects.
We share that goal.
Bees
When used according to the directions, Flock Free Mosquito Spray presents a much lower risk to bees because they have different specifics of breathing system and generally do not contact treated resting surfaces in the same way mosquitoes do.
As with any spray product, avoid direct application onto bees or flowers that are actively being visited by pollinators.
Butterflies
Butterflies are also valuable pollinators.
Avoid spraying butterflies directly and avoid treating flowering plants while butterflies are actively feeding.
Once treated surfaces have dried, the risk of incidental contact is generally much lower.
Fireflies
Fireflies are beneficial insects that many homeowners enjoy having in their yards.
Although Flock Free Mosquito Spray is formulated specifically for mosquito control, direct exposure of fireflies to freshly applied spray may affect them. Whenever practical, avoid treating areas where fireflies are especially active during the evening.
Spiders and Other Insects
Spiders provide valuable natural pest control by feeding on many nuisance insects.
Likewise, other beneficial insects contribute to a healthy backyard ecosystem.
While Flock Free Mosquito Spray is designed specifically for mosquito management, other small insects and spiders that come into direct contact with wet treated surfaces may also be affected.
For that reason, apply only where mosquito control is needed and avoid unnecessary treatment of areas that support beneficial insects.
Fish and Aquatic Life
When used according to the directions, Flock Free Mosquito Spray performs effectively around ponds, fish, waterfowl, and other aquatic environments.
Many customers successfully use it around ornamental ponds and other landscape water features as part of an integrated mosquito management program.
As always, avoid excessive application and use only the recommended amount of product.
Proper Application
The best mosquito treatment is also the one applied correctly.
Using the recommended dilution, treating the right locations, and following the proper application schedule not only improves mosquito control but also helps protect your family, pets, plants, pollinators, and the surrounding environment.
Our goal has always been simple: to provide homeowners with an effective mosquito control solution that works with nature, not against it.
