A roof is the most exposed surface on a building and the one birds treat as home. Rooflines, parapet walls, ridge tiles and rooftop plant give a flock a clear view, no ground predators and somewhere to sit all day. What lands underneath is acidic, and on a flat roof it goes into the membrane, the drains and the equipment.
Roof work has one constraint that shapes every product choice: everything up here is in full sun and full weather. Products that are fine on a sheltered interior ledge are not automatically fine on a roof, and Flock Free's own documentation is what decides it. Everything below is a product whose description supports exterior, sun-exposed use.
Surface Protection That Holds Up Outdoors
Surface Pro Tack is the exterior surface product. Flock Free describes it as suitable for indoor and outdoor use, and heat, cold and water resistant, weather-resistant once dry — which is what a roof demands. Apply a coat of UV paint first; birds see it, people do not.
Surface Pro Tack – Liquid Spikes - Surface Protector - 1 gallon
$202.00
1 gallon, covering 400 square feet. Brush, roll or spray in three coats. Indoor and outdoor; heat, cold and water resistant once dry.
Surface Pro Tack – Liquid Spikes - Surface Protector - 4 fl.oz.
$24.99
4 fl oz for spot work and smaller runs. Dries to a tacky finish with a slight sheen.
Flock Off UV Paint Clear 1 Gallon
$315.00
1 gallon, covering 350 square feet. Applied alongside the tack coat as a visual marker.
Surface Pro Tack needs a clean, dry surface above 40°F to apply, and may temporarily lose some tackiness when wet or below 10°F, recovering once the surface dries.
Spikes on Rooflines and Parapets
Stainless steel will not corrode in weather, sun or salt air, and the flexible base follows a curved ridge or a shaped parapet coping. Flock Free lists rooflines, parapets and rooftop equipment among the intended surfaces.
Shock Tape Without Running Power to the Roof
Shock Tape is watertight and weatherproof and is rated for exterior installation. The practical problem on a roof is usually power — which the solar charger solves, so nothing has to be run up from the building below.
Transparent Shock Tape 54 Foot Roll
$200.00
54 ft roll. Transparent once the backing is removed. Watertight and weatherproof; interior or exterior installation.
Shock Tape is inert without a charger. The solar unit above is the usual choice on a roof.
Treating the Air Over a Flat Roof
On a large flat roof there is often nothing to attach anything to. A hazer treats the space instead of the surface, and the base keeps the unit clear of standing water.
Moby - Portable Hazer
$3249.00
Portable and weatherproof, listed for rooftops, pools, patios and marinas. Keep a 6 ft gap from walls and overhead obstructions.
Flock Free Hazer Base
$227.00
Raises a hazer above the surface and clear of standing water. Described by Flock Free for rooftop and other outdoor locations.
Spray Treatment and Visual Deterrent
Flock Free Bird Repellent is listed for roofs and rooftops in its own product copy. It is a visual, scent and taste deterrent that dries clear, applied weekly for three to four weeks and then monthly. For use around children and pets. Use as directed.
Flock Free Bird Repellent Kit
$519.00
1 gallon of concentrate with 2 pints of InvisiDye UV marker. Listed by Flock Free for industrial facilities, parking structures and rooftops.
Flock Free Bird Repellent Spray Concentrate, 32oz
$99.00
32 oz concentrate making up to 16 gallons. Professional strength.
Where To Start
If birds are sitting along a line — a ridge, a parapet, a coping — spikes or Surface Pro Tack on that line is the direct fix, and the choice between them is usually about how visible you want the result to be. If they are using the whole roof rather than one edge, a hazer treats the area. Repellent spray works alongside either and keeps the pressure on.
