Where a building can be closed off — a gable end, an open bay, the underside of a truss run — netting is the method that physically stops birds using it. What This Page Does Not Cover
Anywhere near animal feed or stored grain. No Flock Free product carries a statement about proximity to feed or to stored grain, and the crop exclusion above is reason enough to be careful rather than assume. Nothing on this page is recommended for a feed room, a feed bunk, a grain bin or a seed store until that is answered. If that is the part of your operation with the problem, ask us and we will get a position before specifying anything.
Scent products and Surface Pro Tack. Both are plausible in a barn — the enclosed-space logic behind the scent products fits a closed building, and Surface Pro Tack is rated for the kind of surface a purlin is. Neither names agricultural buildings in its documentation, so neither is presented here as a confirmed recommendation.
Bird gel is not recommended on this page: its description carries no environmental statement of any kind. The larger ozone and hydroxyl units are air and surface remediation equipment rather than bird deterrents, and capture equipment is outside what these pages cover.
Where To Start
If birds are coming in through one main opening that has to stay usable, start at the doorway with the O3 unit. If a bay or gable end can be closed off without affecting how the building is used, net it — that is the method that ends the problem rather than managing it. If they are already inside and using the roof structure, start with spikes on the purlin and truss runs above whatever you most want to keep clean, and follow up with repellent on the same surfaces.
